Changzhou (also called Dragon City in history) is an ancient city with 2,500-year-written-record history and culture. In the meantime, it is also one of the modern and developed new-born cities. Currently it administrates two county-class cities and five administrative districts with the total area of 4,375 square kilometers. The total population is up to around 3,600,000.



Changzhou is situated in the southern part of Jiangsu Province and belongs to the lower reaches of Yangtze River. It is near to Yangtze River in the north and Taihu Lake in south. The climate of Changzhou belongs to the north subtropical oceanic climate with the mild temperature, rich rainfalls and distinctive seasons. The plum rains often occurs in the period of late spring and early summer. The highest temperature in summer will be up to 35 degrees. In winter, the air is humid and cold. 



Changzhou is situated in the golden delta area of Yangtze River, near to Shanghai and Nanjing. It is integrative with Suzhou and Wuxi as three economic engines of Jiangsu Province. Changzhou has the advantageous geographic conditions and the convenient traffic system comprised of air, water and land. The downtown is near to Yangtze River in the north and Taohu Lake in the south. Shanghai-Nanjing railway, Shanghai-Nanjing highway, 12 national highway and Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal go across the city. The water channels of the whole city are connected with one another. In 1980s, Changzhou became the nationwide star city. On 1, January 2008, the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) opened, it was the first express bus system. Changzhou Harbor on Yangtze River is the top-rank opening harbor with the annual throughput more than several million tons. Changzhou was one of the birthplaces of Chinese modern industry and business. It was famous for its developed economy and industry and business.



Changzhou is a time-honored cultural city. Recently, Changzhou quickens its development in tourism industry. The famous scenic spots include Chinese Dinosaur Garden, Maoshan scenic area in Jintan and so on. The major attractions include: Tainmu Lake, Tianning Temple, Red-plum Park, Gaojing Garden, Qu Qiubai Memorial, Jingchuan Park, Dongpo Park, Jin Garden, International business street and zone, Yanghu Square, Changzhou Museum, Yilin Garden, Luxu Garden and so on .
