Thousand-Island Lake (Qiandaohu Lake) is located in the hinterland of Yangtze River Delta. And it is also called the "backyard of Hangzhou, China's first-class tourist city".
Thousand-Island Lake covers 10,442 sq.km. and contains high quality water. The isles displays all kinds of appearance in size and scenery, like a maze on the water. About 94 species of fishes breed in the lake. It brings out amazing attractions such as "Diving Lake" and "Underwater Pyramid" and offers a variety of tourist resouce in exhibitions, fishing and halieutics. Wildlife resouce is rich on the islands, include 61 species of beasts, 90 kinds of birds, 50 kinds of reptiles, 180 kinds of insects and 12 species of amphibians. Good environment provides a good homeland for wild animals and also develops lots of animals-theme small island attractions. Further more, totally 1786 kinds of plants grows here. If you take a tour to the lake, you can taste all kinds of fresh fruits in seasons.
Ancient tombs and cultural sites has been found in the Qiandaohu Lake senic area, such as Wulong island Neolithic cultural site, Xiaotangwu Western Zhou Dynasty cultural site, Shuidui historic sites. Ancient architectures like Mishan Bone Tower, Mishan Nunnery, Yinshan Nunnery and tombs as Yegong Tomb, Zheng Yunzhong Tomb. All the attractions bring tourists unexpected experinece in both local culture and natural landscape.
